'What If?' Metropolis: DVD cover

For the DVD sleeve, I thought it would be quite fitting to make something reminiscent of a vintage 'how-to' book cover, practical item you would expect to find in one of my suburban-city houses. The front illustration showcases a 50s Lucienne Day as a popular icon of her time, sharing her idea of good design to a large audience. The shapes are left flat, varying between 4 colours, to stay true to her desire of simplicity and freshness.

  1. delightful! but - in graphic design terms, I don't like the word split on 'environment' - it looks a bit odd, and would Lucienne herself approve, I wonder?

Well, to be fair, she did break word structures when using typography in her patterns:

    2. Haha! I think you're closer with 'WIM4' but now the AND looks TOO IMPORTANT! Maybe if you use an & so you have 'Space &' on the topline and 'Environment' as the bottom line? It just seems a bit clunky to break that word, when everything else is looking so natty! :)
