A couple of notes on how to maybe detail the staging of the scene a little further as per Alan's advice.

Side note: this is not quite yet the visual approach I'll be settling for as I feel asymmetrical, stronger shapes/mark making and colours will be needed to convey the war theme (whilst also hopefully be reminiscent of classical oil paintings.)
